Why We Built This Site
New York does not place every criminal-history record in one public system. The Broome County Sheriff's divisions maintain Sheriff incident, arrest, warrant, booking, and custody material, while Broome County Court and the local City, Town, and Village Courts keep their own case files. DCJS holds fingerprint-supported state criminal history but offers Personal Record Review only to the subject or the subject's lawyer. DOCCS maintains state custody records, and DCJS administers the New York State Sex Offender Registry. We bring together the verified request steps, official search routes, fees, and agency contacts needed to navigate those distinct systems.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: how to reach the Broome County Sheriff's Records Division, the local criminal courts, and the relevant New York State systems
- Record guides: how criminal court case records are located and confirmed in Broome County
- Official review steps: the difference between an OCA CHRS name search and a fingerprint-based DCJS Personal Record Review
- Record sealing guidance: where New York sealing requests and related court documents are filed
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, with no affiliation to any New York court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. That means our role has firm limits:
- We cannot issue a certified court record, rap sheet, police report, or other official copy
- We cannot submit a FOIL request, sealing motion, or other filing for a visitor
- We cannot retrieve a criminal record or conduct an official criminal-history check
- We cannot advise anyone about the effect of a particular charge, warrant, or case
- We cannot promise that an office's fee, hours, address, or telephone number has not changed
An official record must come from the agency that maintains it, such as the Broome County Sheriff, the originating court, or DCJS. This site can identify the proper route, but it cannot produce the document.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, results, and prices. We may receive a referral payment if a visitor follows one of those tools and buys a service, which helps support free access to this site. We do not determine the provider's charges or the information returned.
